    - ASP.NET 1.1 Pass Post to Another Page Hi Group,
      
      I'm trying to integrate a new site in with an old site. There are some
      legacy pages that a user must log into. I would like to have an ASP.NET
      1.1 page take user credentials in and then transfer that request to the
      old log-in page, and then bow out of the process. The legacy application
      is on the same server, different virtual directory. It's an ASP CLassic
      applcation. Can this be done? If the user failed to log-in, it's OK if
      the legacy application is the one to tell them.

    - Getting to Grips with Bubbleup Hi folks,
      
      Lately I've been dipping my toes into the world of compostie controls as I
      like the reuse potential. I've been playing round with bubbling up command
      events for the last little while and I think I pretty much understand what's
      going on.
      
      My question is how would I go about doing what to me seems like the
      opposite.
      
      Let me give you an example of what I'm trying to do. Suppose I had a user
      control with two mutually exclusive radiobuttons sitting in a page with some
      text boxes and a button. I want to be able to set a property of the
      usercontrol based on which radiobutton is checked when the button is
      clicked. If the button was part of the usercontrol my understanding is I
      could bubble up a command event I had set for the button onClick and pass
      the newly set property to the page but I'm stumped as to what to do when the
      button is outside the control.
      
      Any guidance gratefully appreciated.

      I found this thread:

      which says to change the references in the web.config for
      <system.web><pages><controls><add tagPrefix="asp"... to
      <system.web><pages><controls><add tagPrefix="ajax"...
      
      That seems to have cleared up my problems. The re-defining of the <asp:></asp>tag seems like it's setup to cause problems.

    - Newbie:Questions about server side asynchronous web methods Hi,
      
      I've two questions about server side asynchronous web methods:
      
      (1) When callback is run which signals ASMX handler to call EndXX function,
      it runs on a separate thread. Is this thread a thread from ASP.NET
      threadpool ?
      (2) Suppose in BeginXXX function a web service is called synchronously and
      CompletedSynchronously flag is set to true. What implication it has ?

    - Calling .Net WS with Mozilla SOAP API I've written a .Net web service running on IIS, W2K Server and using
      IE with the webservice.htc behavior to call it and all works fine.
      However, when I call the web service with Mozilla using the its SOAP
      API, the message is received by the web service but all the parameters
      equate to "Nothing". I've checked the outgoing message and the values
      are in the message sent by Mozilla to the .Net web service, but not
      picked up.
      
      I change the code to return data when the parameters are empty and I'm
      able to get data from the .Net web service into Mozilla. I've
      searched everywhere and just can't find anything on how you can talk
      to a .Net web service from Mozilla's SOAP API. Surely, this is
      something that lots of people must want to be doing, but I can't
      figure out what I'm doing wrong.
      
      Anyway, here's a summary of my situation
      
      1. MS .Net Web Service written in Visual Studio 2003 VB, on W2K Server
      2. IE with webservice.htc works fine
      3. Call the service with Mozilla SOAP API, values are sent fine
      4. .Net Web Service receives message, runs method, but parameters are
      empty
      5. Mozilla can receive .Net responses
      6. Copies of messages and code below
      
      Any direction you can give is greatly appreciated. I've been
      struggling with this problem for a long, long time. Thanks very much
      for any information you can provide.

      We have an ASP.NET 1.1 application running on a W2K3 box that is consuming a
      web-service via HTTPS and we are receiving this error, BUT, it's only
      intermittent. It's not happening all the time. It just started happening a
      few days ago and there was no code changes made to the server.
      
      I've Googled this message and I see the various reason it can happen, but
      none apply to us. The URL that we are using to hit the web service is the
      same as appears in the SSL certificate that the web service provider has.
      And the certificate is valid. And the problem doesn't happen all the time.
      It works fine for a day, then starts up all of the sudden. When this
      problem starts, the only solution is to run IISRESET, which will indeed fix
      it, but only for a period of time. (Maybe a day, maybe a few hours.)
      
      We've even made this change to our machine.config file:

      but it doesn't keep the problem from unexpectedly starting again.
      
      We're pulling our hair out over this since we can't make the problem appear
      and are nervously waiting for it to happen again so we can quickly run

    - Frames in ASP.NET? Hi,
      
      I want to create a new web application using VS2008 (I'm actually rewriting
      what's currenty at www.recordplay.com).
      
      The current site uses frames. Do I want to still do this, or is there a
      new/better way now?
      
      Basically, I have that Windows Media Player that I want up all the time
      (embedded) playing songs while the user can navigate around to other pages.
      
      In my VS2008 page, it does the red squiggle line under a frame tag saying
      not supported. I do see an option for IFrame.. maybe I want to look at
      that?

Hi all,
I'm trying to programmatically render a user control,
but problem is, i don't have the control type
and i cannot use register directive as the context is not an aspx page.
Any ideas, links.
